The
Master of Arts in Theological Studies (MATS) Degree Completion
Program is an accelerated and affordable degree designed for adult
learners who are employed in full-time positions. By attending
class one night a week on our Springfield, Missouri campus, eligible
applicants can earn a degree in 18 months.
This program was developed for in-service ministers, missionaries,
church leaders, and lay people who want to enhance their ministry
in specialized areas such as teaching and church-related writing.
It also serves as an intermediate degree for further graduate programs
in biblical and theological studies.
Program Overview:
Upon acceptance into the program, learners will be assigned
to a cohort group of approximately 12-15 adult working professionals.
The cohort will progress through each course together, meeting
four hours a week for approximately 18 months.
The accelerated, intensive nature of the program requires participants
to commit to approximately 15-18 hours a week of reading, studying,
research and writing. In-class lectures supplement reading and
written assignments allowing students time to interact with one
another as they discuss the application of material to their
ministry contexts.
