New Students Registration and Advisement Tips

As you meet with your adviser and plan your course schedule, we encourage you to...

  1. Plan carefully for timely graduation:
    • Take full load (9-12 hrs)
    • Monitor degree printout
    • Take required courses when offered
    • Use summers for make-up if needed

  2. Maintain balance by avoiding overload if:
    • Enrolling on academic probation
    • English is your second language
    • Academic background in major is limited
    • Research and writing skills need improvement
    • Heavy job or family responsibilities

  3. Consider registering for Writing Tutorial or Writing Workshop?
    • Yes, if . . .
      • You have written few papers
      • You want to improve technical skills
      • English is not your first language

  4. Friends are here to help:
    • SAC officers have been through the transition—and survived!
    • Faculty and staff are experienced in getting students through AGTS.
    • Classes start on Monday, January 5.
    • Do ask questions up front and make schedule changes by Tuesday, January 20.
    • Contact Information: records@agts.edu or 417-268-1025.

Remember that God will help you succeed at AGTS!
