New Students Registration and Advisement Tips
As you meet with your adviser and plan your course schedule, we encourage you to...
- Plan carefully for timely graduation:
- Take full load (9-12 hrs)
- Monitor degree printout
- Take required courses when offered
- Use summers for make-up if needed
- Maintain balance by avoiding overload if:
- Enrolling on academic probation
- English is your second language
- Academic background in major is limited
- Research and writing skills need improvement
- Heavy job or family responsibilities
- Consider registering for Writing Tutorial or Writing Workshop?

- You have written few papers
- You want to improve technical skills
- English is not your first language
- Friends are here to help:
- SAC officers have been through the transition—and survived!
- Faculty and staff are experienced in getting students through AGTS.
- Classes start on Monday, January 5.
- Do ask questions up front and make schedule changes by Tuesday, January 20.
