New Academic Dean
Joseph L. Castleberry has been appointed by the board of directors of AGTS
to be the new academic dean beginning January 2003. He and his wife, Kathleen, have three
daughters, Jessica, Jodi, and Sophie.
We welcome the Castleberrys to the AGTS community.

2003 Spring Lectureship
Series
An exciting 2003 Spring Lectureship series is scheduled for January 14-16,
with Sherwood Lingenfelter, the provost and senior vice president of Fuller Theological
Seminary. Watch for posters listing his chapel schedule, class lectures, and the complimentary
pizza luncheon in the Great Hall for the entire AGTS family. Take a look at some of his
most recent books in the library or purchase your own copy in the bookstore. Dr. Lingenfelter
will sign his books on Thursday, January 16, 1-1:30 p.m.

Bible and Theology
Lectureship
Jim Hernando will speak on
the topic Imitation Language in Paul: Implications for Discipleship and Ministerial
Training at the Bible and Theology Department lectureship on Thursday, January 30,
at 2:30 p.m. in the AGTS chapel.

Winter Weather
In the rare event that classes are canceled due to severe winter weather,
the major television and radio stations in Springfield will be notified that the Assemblies
of God Theological Seminary (not the same as the Assemblies of God Christian School) has
canceled classes. Before calling the seminary, listen for such announcements.
Chaplaincy Scholarships
Applications for chaplaincy scholarships (Military, Veterans Affairs, Industrial,
Institutional) from the A/G Chaplaincy Department will be available from Jan Maempa in
the Academic Deans Office, beginning January 3. The application deadline is Monday,
January 20, 2003.

Student Appointments
with Faculty
Students seeking appointments with faculty members should sign the appointment
forms posted by their respective office doors. Students who phone from off-campus should
contact the faculty secretary, Kimberly Penrod (268-1070). Faculty may be emailed at their
offices by using their first initial and last name as in this example, jrailey@agts.edu.
Procedure for
Summer Practicums
Approval for MSS 641 Practicum in Cross-Cultural Ministry (Summer 2003)
must be finalized by January 15. All other applications for summer practicums must be
approved and processed Tuesday-Friday, January 21-31. Application forms are available
from Kimberly Penrod, or if a counseling practicumfrom Angela Reid. Make an appointment
now to see the appropriate professor.
Prayer Opportunities
The Khoo Kay Peng Prayer Room is literally at the center of the AGTS complex.
We want to insure that it is at the spiritual center of our life together. As we move
into the new year, please make time for regular weekly prayer in the prayer room.

Course Change
Deadline, January 22
Wednesday, January 22 is the final deadline to make spring course changes
in the Records Office. The tuition refund policy for spring courses dropped is 90% (January
7-13), 80% (January 14-21), and 70% (January 22-30). There is no refund beginning January
31.
Free Audit for
Spouses
Spouses of full-time seminarians are encouraged to audit a course this
spring free of charge. Register in the Records Office before January 20. Download the

Summer/Fall Preregistration,
February 25-28
The dates for summer and fall preregistration are Tuesday-Friday, February
25-28.
Financial Aid
for Fall/Spring 2003-04
Students are encouraged to complete their Free Application for Federal
Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2003-04 academic year. Beginning January 1, applications can
be completed at www.fafsa.ed.gov. AGTS institutional forms required for 2003-04 Federal
Aid will be available in the Financial Aid Office beginning January 20 or on the web at
www.agts.edu.
Deadline for Late
Spring Loans
February 15 is the deadline for all financial aid paperwork to secure a
late Federal Stafford Loan for the 2002-03 academic year. Forms
are available at www.agts.edu. Please contact the Financial Aid Office if you have
any questions (268-1025).

Spiritual
Emphasis Week with Carl Gibbs, Tuesday-Friday, January 7-10
Carl Gibbs is the Dean of the School of Graduate Studies at Global University.
Dr. Gibbs earned a B.A. degree from Northwest College and an M.Div. and D.Min. from Western
Seminary in Portland, Ore. He has served with A/G World Missions for over 23 years. From
1977-1989 he directed curriculum development for the Brazilian Extension School of Theology
(BEST), which now has more than 16,000 degree-level students in six countries. From 1991-1998,
he served ICI University as Dean of the School of Bible and Theology. He has also served
as a member of DETC and as President of ACCESS and has taught and lectured throughout
Africa, Europe, and Asia.

Victory MissionA ministry team will lead a service and
serve supper at this homeless shelter on Thursday, January 23, from 6-8 p.m. Please meet

Prison MinistryStudents will have the opportunity to
conduct a Pentecostal service at the Federal Medical Center for Prisoners once each semester.

Street Evangelism TeamThis ministry addresses individuals'
need for truth, salvation and healing. The team will meet for prayer before going out

Holiday Library
Hours
Since no classes will be in session over the Holiday Break, the Library
will follow the standard Holiday schedule from Thursday, December 19Sunday, January
5 on days the building is open:

The Library will be closed throughout Christmas week (Monday, December
23Friday, December 27) and will also be closed on Wednesday, January 1. See the

Spring 2003 Scholarships
Scholarships for the spring 2003 term will post to student accounts after
January 20. If you are a recipient, please review your February account statement carefully
to make sure that the award and the accurate amount have been posted. Please report any
discrepancies to the Business Office as soon as possible.
Deferred Payment
Dates
Deferred payments are due on or before January 6, February 15 and March
15. AGTS no longer charges interest on outstanding balances, but past due accounts are
subject to a $25 per month late fee.
Scholarship Applications
for Fall 2003
Scholarship applications for the fall 2003 semester will be available in
the Business Office on January 20. The forms must be completed and submitted by 4:30 p.m.
on January 31. Awards will be determined by the Scholarship Committee and scholarship
notifications made by March 1.
