About the Program
You can pursue a Doctor of Ministry (D.Min). or a Master of Arts in Christian Ministries (M.A.C.M.) degree with a concentration in Professional Coaching in a joint venture between AGTS and Purdue University’s Leader Lab. Upon graduating with your degree from AGTS, you will also be a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) with the International Coach Federation (ICF).
There is no need to relocate! Classes are held in two-week modules on campus in Springfield every nine months. Between modules, students read and write assignments, receive coaching (mentor coaching and observed coaching evaluations) and practice coaching (peer coaching and client coaching) in fulfillment of class and certification requirements.
You will study with some of the finest Christian coaches in the world, including Jane Creswell (founder of IBM Coaching), Linda Miller (global liaison for coaching, Ken Blanchard Companies) and Joseph Umidi (of Lifeforming Leadership Coaching). You will receive a broad and thorough exposure to coaching individuals, teams and organizations and have the opportunity to develop your own coaching specialty. As a member of this cohort, you will become part of a community of Christian coaches—a cadre of Great-Commission professionals committed to using coaching in the ministries of the church as well as in the marketplace mission field.

What is Coaching?
In current leadership circles, coaching refers to the notion of walking with a person—or group—from where they are toward where they want to go including developing competencies and fulfillments they desire. Christian coaching adds another dimension. It is the art of guiding a person or group from where they are to where God wants them to be. Coaching helps people expand their visions and creates movement so they can unlock their potential, increase their skills and reach their goals. Coaching is a practical and valuable skill for both ministry and corporate settings, where coaches help others make meaningful change, increase their options, access resources they may not have considered, so they can experience the fulfillment of God’s purpose for their lives.
What is the Format of the Program?
The dynamics of the program include a model involving leaders from many ministry backgrounds in two-week (back to back) classes, held approximately every 9 months. Our diverse participants usually finish the program within three to four years, but the benefits begin on the first day!
What are the Entrance Requirements?
Doctor of Ministry: Admission to the D. Min. program requires an M.Div. (or its academic equivalent which includes 72 prescribed graduate credits), a grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, three years of full-time ministry experience following your first master’s degree and current involvement in full-time ministry.
Masters of Arts: If you are interested in the M.A.C.M. Professional Coaching Cohort, the requirements are a four year undergraduate degree with a 2.5 GPA, a three year minimum of full time ministry experience and current involvement of full time ministry.
Certificate Level: Those desiring to obtain Life Coach Certification only and not an academic degree, will be considered based on life experience and education to best match the complexion of this particular program.
What is the Cost of the Program?
The cost of the program is payable in 11 installments over the course of the three and a half year program.
- D.Min. Tuition: $14,970
- M.A.C.M. Tuition: $24,872
- Certification-Related Professional Fees: $2,000
NOTE: In addition, participants will be responsible to cover their personal coaching fees. Based upon the student’s selection of a mentor coach, fees will range from $2,000 - $6,000 over the course of the program.
