For the second year in a row, a survey sponsored by Christianity Today (CT) magazine lists the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary (AGTS) among the best Christian places to work in the United States. The Best Christian Workplaces Institute administered the survey which measures the attitudes of employees at Christian organizations.
The results were published in an article in the May 2004 issue of CT which listed AGTS in fourth place among institutions of higher education with 150 employees or less.
The article explains, “A high percentage of employees in these organizations were asked to fill out an online survey composed of 66 questions that covered their company’s people practices; organizational leaders separately provided detailed profiles of their human resource practices.” An independent panel of judges considered the employee scores, participation rates and management profiles to select the winners.
After last year’s survey, AGTS was provided with the survey data along with employee comments. As a result, AGTS implemented several key components to make itself an even better place to work including:
- Establishing the Employee Satisfaction Committee to advise the Board of Administration as to how AGTS can continue to provide an enjoyable, fun, motivating, challenging and spiritually-full workplace.
- Adding staff representation to the Board of Administration
- Adding an Employee Scholarship Fund by which all employees could aid students
- Increasing the emphasis on community prayer and worship through weekly community chapels and an annual Day of Renewal, during which the community breaks from work and classes
