News: AGTS golf tournament raises scholarship funds
On April 30, AGTS held its third annual golf tournament in conjunction with 2010 graduation activities. Eighty-three golfers enjoyed beautiful Deer Lake Golf Course despite windy conditions. Altogether, the tournament raised almost $5,000 for student scholarships.
This year a Putting Contest was included in the competition and though it presented quite a challenge to the golfers, Bob Chambers actually made the putt, winning a 32”LCDHD TV. Other contests included Closest to the Pin, Longest Drive and Straightest Drive.
The winning team in the top flight, Alan Wolken, Justin Lumby, Trevor Thornton and Joel Karlson shot a 10-under 62. The winning team in the second flight, Delonn Rance, Valerie Rance, Jorel Rance and Shayla Rance shot a 1-under 71.
Several local businesses and churches were sponsors of the tournament, with St. John’s Corporate Health and Wellness, serving as Corporate Sponsor ($2,500+) for the second year in a row. The Church Multiplication Network and AGUSM were Platinum Sponsors ($1,000).
Other sponsors included Gospel Publishing House, AGCU, Global Initiative: Reaching Muslim Peoples, AG Chaplaincy Ministries, 88.3 The Wind, James River AG, AG Financial Solutions, Southern Missouri District Council, Meguiar’s Car Detail Supplies and Panera Bread. The Northern Asia Regional Office of AGWM sponsored a team of AGTS students and Asia Pacific Regional Office sent two full teams of golfers.
