AGTS News: Consolidation prayer gathering to be live-streamed

Watch live (click here at 7 p.m. on November 5, 2012)!

Since the consolidation of Central Bible College, Evangel University, and the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary was approved by vote of the 54th General Council in Phoenix, Ariz., August 2011, concerted prayer has been devoted to seeking God's wisdom and guidance as details of the consolidation are worked out. Monthly "Together in Prayer" gatherings, coordinated by Central Bible College President Gary Denbow, have alternated among the three institutions throughout the academic year. God's rich blessing and presence have been powerfully felt as prayers have been offered for students, faculty, staff, and administrators, as well as for the number of committees and boards that have devoted, and continue to devote, long hours to this initiative.

On Monday, November 5, at 7:00 p.m., CST, representatives from each school, along with guests from area churches and the AG national offices, will gather at AGTS to pray for God’s blessing on and guidance for the consolidation of the three academic institutions. This prayer service is unique in that it will be live streamed on the Web so that others across the nation can participate in this important time of prayer.

Following greetings and opening prayer by AGTS president, Dr. Byron Klaus, a scripture reading and devotional will be presented by Dr. Robert H. Spence, president of EU. Dr. Randy Walls (AGTS) will lead a time of worship followed by prayers offered by members of the Consolidation Prayer Task Force: Mrs. Joanne Strom, consolidation coordinator; Rev. Sandra Drake, founding director of the AG National Prayer Center and former director of AG Women’s Ministries; Dr. Jay Taylor, director of Spiritual Formation, AGTS; Rev. John Maempa, director of the AG Office of Prayer & Spiritual Care; Rev. John Plake, EU campus pastor; and Rev. Alan Baker, CBC campus pastor. Prayers will focus on unity and community, commitment to legacy, academic excellence, spiritual vitality, the administration and staff, and for assurance amidst change.

Closing remarks and prayer will be offered by Dr. Gary A. Denbow, president of CBC and coordinator of the Consolidation Prayer Task Force.

"Without question, we need God's help as details of the consolidation are finalized," states Dr. Denbow. "Please plan to join with us for this special time of prayer on November 5, as we, together in prayer, seek God's wisdom and direction."
