AGTS Appoints New Academic Dean
Dr.
Joseph L. Castleberry has been appointed by the board of directors of AGTS to be the new
academic dean beginning January 2003. An installation service for the new academic dean
will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. in the William J. Seymour Chapel
at AGTS.

He has been a missionary under appointment with Assemblies of God World Missions since
1988 serving in El Salvador and Ecuador. Throughout his missionary career Castleberry
has divided his efforts between church planting and theological education. He recently
established the first Evangelical church among the previously unreached descendants of
African slaves of the Chota Valley, Ecuador.

In addition, Dr. Castleberry has served as academic vice president for the A/G Biblical
Seminary in Quito, Ecuador (1997-2001). He also was associate dean for curriculum Development
at Global University, School of Graduate Studies (1993-97). He was also associate dean
for Latin America, Global University of the A/G, School of Bible and Theology (1993-1994).
While serving in El Salvador he taught on the Biblical Studies and Theology Faculty at
Assemblies of God Christian University and at Bethel Bible Institute.
Castleberry received a B.A. from Evangel University in 1983. His M.Div. is from Princeton
Theological Seminary and his Ed.D. in International Educational Development is from Columbia
University in New York City. Dr. Castleberry is married to Kathleen. They have three daughters,
Jessica, Jodi, and Sophie.
