AGTS Press Release: Dr. Ivan Satyavrata of India to Speak at AGTS Commencement

Springfield, Mo.—March 30, 2004—Dr. Ivan Morris Satyavrata will deliver the keynote address at the 31st annual commencement of the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary on Saturday, May 1, 2004, at 2:30 p.m. in the Evangel University Chapel, Springfield, Mo.
Satyavrata began his ministry as a pioneer pastor in the slums of Bombay. He is currently the president of Southern Asia Bible College and ministers part-time in a 7000 member congregation in Bangalore, India. He and his wife, Sheila, are deeply engaged in a variety of compassion and development ministries, especially Bombay Teen Challenge, a Christian organization involved in the rehabilitation of street children, drug addicts and commercial sex workers in the city of Bombay. His chief interest lies with issues regarding Christian witness to people of other faiths.
He is the chairman of the Asia Theological Association in India and the executive director of the Euro-Asian Theological Association. He earned his masters in Theology from Regent College, Vancouver, Canada, and his Ph.D. through Oxford Centre for Mission Studies, Oxford, U.K.
Highlights of this year’s graduation activities include a public Doctor of Ministry symposium on Friday, April 30, 2004, at 12:30 p.m. in the AGTS chapel. Graduates will present summaries of their doctoral projects which embody field research from the participant’s own ministry context. Topics include forgiveness and reconciliation, faith in suffering, organic spirituality and more.
One hundred twenty-seven degrees, including Doctor of Ministry, Master of Divinity and Master of Arts will be awarded at the AGTS commencement to 127 graduates from 29 states and eight foreign countries.
