Artist Visits AGTS

AGTS and the AG Chaplaincy Ministries hosted a luncheon in honor of American military veterans on March 23, 2006. Over 400 veterans attended.

Featured guests included Vietnam veteran and Purple Heart recipient Dave Roever. Roever shared his story of survival in Vietnam and how he is mentoring other injured veterans to make a difference for the kingdom of God.

Dr. Charles Nestor has started a
website, TheTruthMatters.com,
which features pastoral addresses on issues like abortion and evolution. Throughout the site, Nestor emphasizes the standard by which all truth is to be measured is the Bible, which confronts, brings moral clarity and informs lifestyle.

For over 30 years, Nestor has been known for his outstanding preaching, teaching and writing ministry. Before multiple sclerosis led to his retirement, he pastored a rapidly growing church in Virginia for 14 years.

On February 7, 2006, AGTS hosted Nigerian artist Ibiyinka Alao. Alao was named Nigeria’s Ambassador of Art in 2001 after winning a prestigious United Nations International Art Competition. He has toured the world displaying his work, which often opens doors to discussions of biblical principles with non-Christians in universities and top levels of world governments.

Alao’s African culture and his people’s ancient history are reflected in the colors and imagery he uses. Throughout his childhood, his father encouraged him to express himself through painting. The stories his father used to impart moral wisdom are often the subject of Alao’s work.
