Dr. Benny C. Aker Retires after 16 Influential Years
AGTS Welcomes Top Women Faculty:
Dr. Debbie Gill and Dr. Angela Reid

In May, Dr. Benny C. Aker retired after 16 years as professor of New Testament and exegesis. “Dr. Aker’s influence on me has been profound,” said Keith Gardner, AGTS student. “He has transformed the way I understand Scripture...and the Christian life.”

Dr. Aker and his wife, Barbara, established the Powers-Aker Scholarship fund, which provides financial assistance to students who are committed to evangelization.

To contribute to the Powers-Aker Scholarship fund, visit or call 1-417-268-1012.

Dr. Debbie Gill (M.Div. 1978, M.A. in Biblical Languages 1979) joined the faculty in May as professor of New Testament exposition. She holds a Ph.D. from Fuller Theological Seminary.

Gill has taught New Testament, Greek and homiletics at the undergraduate and graduate levels. She has served in missions in the Asia Pacific and was senior pastor of a cell-based church in Minnesota. Before coming to AGTS, she was the AG’s commissioner on discipleship.

Dr. Angela C. Reid (M.A. in Counseling 2000) will join the faculty as assistant professor of counseling psychology in fall 2006.

Licensed as a professional counselor, psychologist and minister, Dr. Reid has an impressive record of clinical practice, undergraduate and graduate level teaching, program administration and ministry involvement. Reid holds a Psy.D. from Forest Institute of Professional Psychology.
