Church Receives Purpose Driven Church Health
Award
On May 20 David (M.A.T.S. 1997)
and Rebekah Crosby, senior pastors of Pocono Community Church (PCC),
were honored, with eighty other churches, at the 2005 Purpose Driven
Church conference at Saddleback Community Church, Lake Forest,
Calif.
“These congregations understand that the healthy
church maintains a balance between the five biblical purposes—worship,
fellowship, discipleship, ministry and mission,” said Rick
Warren (pictured center), Saddleback’s pastor and founder
of Purpose Driven Ministries. “They have embraced purpose-driven
principles to grow not only in numbers but, more importantly, to
grow in health.”
PCC held its first service Christmas Day
2002. In April 2005, Sunday morning attendance averaged 550. “I
just never imagined that I’d ever be able to be a part of
something like this. It’s
very humbling to see what God does every weekend,” says
Crosby. In the last two years, the church has witnessed close
to 400 salvations and is completing plans to buy a 50-acre tract
of land for a new ministry facility.
