We welcome Dr. Castleberry, his
wife Kathleen, and their three daughters, Jessica, Jodie, and Sophie.
Dr. Joseph L. Castleberry will join AGTS as the new academic dean in January 2003.
Throughout his career, he has divided his time between church ministry and theological
education. He has been a missionary under general appointment with the Assemblies of
God World Missions since 1988. As the founding director of The Freedom Valley Project
in Carpuela, Ecuador, he established the first Evangelical church among the previously
unreached African-American people of the Chota Valley, Ecuador.
Castleberry has had pastoral experience both in the United States and in Ecuador. He
served as academic vice president for the A/G Biblical Seminary in Quito Ecuador (1997-2001)
and was the associate dean for Curriculum Development at Global University of the A/G,
School of Graduate Studies (1995-1997). He was also the associate dean for Latin America,
Global University of the A/G, School of Bible and Theology (1993-1994). He earned a
Doctor of Education in International Education Development with a concentration in Higher
Education Administration from Columbia University, New York, N.Y., 1999, and a Master
of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary, Princeton, N.J., 1988.
