AGTS is proud to welcome Richard
Dresselhaus as the interim academic dean this fall. Dr. Dresselhaus pastors First
Assembly of God in San Diego, Calif. and is a member of both the AGTS
Board of Directors and the Executive
Presbytery for the Assemblies of God.
AGTS will conduct its Sixth Annual Convocation on Tuesday, September 3,
at 10:20 a.m. in the chapel. This is a great opportunity to bring your families to participate
in your Seminary experience by attending a chapel service.

Applications for chaplaincy scholarships (military, veterans affairs, industrial,
institutional) from the Assemblies of God Chaplaincy
Department are now available from Jan Maempa in the Deans Office. The application
deadline is September 16.
legal counselor for the Assemblies of God, will teach PTH 628 Legal Issues for Churches
and Clergy, a course designed to acquaint ministering persons with substantive legal issues
of special relevance to churches and clergy.
Robert Turnbull, Evangel University
Humanities Department chairperson, will teach the course THE 639 Theological French, geared
to introduce the French language and to serve as a prerequisite in preparing one to sustain
language entrance exams into some doctoral programs.

Please be reminded that the comprehensive examination date and both the
M.A.T.S. seminary-quality paper and the analytical reflections paper deadline for fall
graduates is Monday, November 4.
Free Audit for
Spouses of full-time students enrolled in nine hours or more are encouraged
to unofficially audit one course free of charge. To register, complete the Student
Spouse Registration for Unofficial Audit form on the website or pick one up from the
Admissions and Records Office and return it to the same office by September 16.
Bible and Theology
Gary McGee will lecture on the
topic, "The Calcutta Revival of 1907 and the Reformulation of Charles F. Parham's
Bible Evidence Doctrine," on Thursday, September 26, at 2:30 p.m. in
the chapel. The earliest Pentecostals believed that God bestowed unlearned languages on
the Spirit-baptized for missionary evangelism. This paper examines events in Calcutta
that led Pentecostals to revise their understanding of the function of tongues and view
the experience as prayer in the Spirit. This event is open to the entire AGTS community.
Students planning to do a practicum during the 2003 spring term must schedule
an approval interview with the appropriate practicum coordinator (see course
offering schedule for coordinator) on October 1-4 or October 15-18. Pick up appropriate
forms from the faculty secretary.
Final Exam Week
In planning your semester schedule, please note the final exam schedule

For students interested in cross-cultural ministry, the Global
Missions Track can be fitted into almost any AGTS
degree program. Contact Barbara Cavaness (417-268-1083) about a GMT foreign or domestic
practicum and/or the possibility of studying at a foreign seminary in the completion of
your AGTS program.
Currently enrolled students may arrange appointments with the counseling

Counseling students are invited to a fall party at Mark
Bradfords home at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, September 13. A trip to Des Moines, Iowa,

Edgar Lee wrote the article The

Stephen Lim wrote the article Let

Gary McGee wrote several articles
in The New International Dictionary of Pentecostal and Charismatic Movements, edited by
Stanley M. Burgess, May, 2002. Major articles include:

At the annual meeting of the American Society of Missiology (ASM) in Techny,
Ill., June 21-23, McGee was reelected by the Board
of Publication to another three-year term as chair of the ASM Dissertation Series, published
jointly by the ASM and University Press of America. The series contains dissertations
selected for the outstanding contributions they make to mission studies.

Register for May
October 31 is the deadline to apply for graduation. If you plan to finish
your degree requirements anytime between now and August 2003, now is the time to register.

If you missed the Stafford Loan Entrance Interview during registration,
contact Marilyn Erickson (417-268-1028) in the Financial Aid Office, or complete the entrance

This is a federal requirement for first-time AGTS borrowers.
Late Loan Applications
All loan paperwork submitted now will be processed by November 8. Late
applications will be accepted through October 15. Contact Marilyn Erickson (417-268-1028)
in the Financial Aid Office for more information.
If you have been awarded a Perkins Loan, September 13 is the deadline to
sign a promissory note and complete the forms to accept or decline the award. After that
date, those monies must be awarded to other Seminarians. Contact Marilyn Erickson (417-268-1028)

New Student Services Secretary
Cristy McAtee joins the AGTS Department of Spiritual Formation and Student
Services as the new student services secretary. Cristy formerly worked as an administrative
coordinator to the Singles Adult Ministries at the AG Headquarters. She has previous
work experience as a loan processor at the General Council Credit Union and as an admissions
office application processor at Central Bible College. In addition, she enjoys gardening,
outdoor activities, and singing in her church choir.

Emphasis, September 18-19
To accommodate longer chapel services for Spiritual Emphasis, the class
schedules on Wednesday and Thursday, September 18-19, will be adjusted as follows:

- Spiritual Emphasis Service9:50-11 a.m.

Requirements for Students and Employees
For continued participation in federal financial aid programs, AGTS is
legally required to release several reports each year, many of which deal with sensitive
and easily misunderstood information on security, sexual offenses, and alcohol/drug abuse.
The following have been placed in your mailboxes or, in the case of new students, your
- Campus Security/Drug and Alcohol Policies: This document
is a crime report on our campus for the last three years that provides vital information
to enhance your security. It also clearly establishes policies and provides legal guidance
with reference to drug and alcohol abuse.
- Policies Regarding Sexual Offenses and Sexual Harassment: This
document clearly identifies sexual offenses and harassment and provides appropriate
penalties to be assessed by the Seminary as well as the procedures to be followed if

AGTS makes every effort to cooperate with federal mandates and to ensure the safety and
spiritual well being of our student body. Let us be vigilant and sensitive to the implications
of our personal and corporate behavior.
Dressing in good taste and with modesty enhances the appearance of both
the individual and the AGTS community. Shorts and caps are prohibited during class/business
hours (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.) and in evening classes.

New Team Members
The Continuing Ed. Office welcomes two new team members: Mark Atterson
and Monty Galloway. Mark is the Coordinator of Continuing Education, and Monty is the
CE Administrative Assistant. Both are also M.Div. students.

Where: Smith Park, directly west of AGTS on Division Street
When: Saturday, September 7, 4-8 p.m.
Join us for a time of fun, games, food, and fellowship. Come see who wins
the faculty and student softball tournament. Enjoy complimentary hot dogs, burgers, and
beverages. Individuals with last names beginning with A-O bring salad and N-Z bring dessert.
What is SAC?
The AGTS student body elects a Student Advisory Council (SAC) annually.
The purpose of this team is to promote spiritual awareness, student unity, and assist
students in making the transition to seminary life by coordinating projects and activities
to enrich and enhance the AGTS community. SAC also serves as a liaison to students, faculty,

Tour of Springfield
International students and/or spouses are invited on a tour of the Springfield
area. The purpose of this tour is to familiarize international students with practical
sites such as grocery stores, banks, malls, and other areas of interest. For more information,

Our annual spiritual emphasis week is September 17-20. Dick Foth, minister-at-large
in Washington, D.C. and former president of Bethany Bible College, will be our speaker.
He is a spiritual adviser to a number of political figures and is a popular conference

SAC will be sponsoring its first lunch for this year on September 18 from
11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in the student lounge. Come enjoy food and fellowship.

The AG Healthcare Ministries is in need of old prescription glasses and
hard-cover suitcases to ship the glasses to those in need. Please drop off any glasses

Chapel worship services are a crucial part of the day as it provides a
time of refreshing, encouragement and intimacy with God. To ensure smooth transitions
during the worship event, a Power Point operator is needed to manage song lyrics and speaker
notes. If you are proficient in using Microsoft PowerPoint and would like to participate

Labor Day Weekend
The Seminary building will be open the following times during the holiday

Please note that the library will close at 5 p.m. on Friday and re-open
on Tuesday morning. Regular building hours will resume on Tuesday, September 3.
Average Cost Per
The average educational cost for an AGTS student this year is $12,207.
Tuition and fees cover only 60% of this amount, and the remainder is funded by an annual
$1,000,000 grant from the General Council of the Assemblies of God and faithful contributions
from churches, districts and individual donors.
The following fees are effective with the 2002 fall semester.
- Deferred Payment FeeAny account not paid in full on or before
the first day of class will be charged a deferred payment fee of $50.
- Late Payment FeeAGTS will no longer be assessing interest charges
on outstanding balances. All past due accounts, however, will be charged a $25-per-month
- Full Cash Payment DiscountAccounts paid in full on or before the
first day of class will receive a 1% discount on the net tuition. Net tuition is the
full tuition charge less tuition discounts and institutional scholarships.
Attention new studentsIf you have not yet had your student ID picture
taken, please make arrangements with the Business Office as soon as possible.
Deferred payments must be made on or before the following dates in order
to avoid $25 per month late fee:
