AGTS News: Local faculty and alumni to participate in Society for Pentecostal Studies conference
The Society for Pentecostal Studies (SPS) will hold its annual meeting in Virginia Beach, Va., February 29–March 3, 2012. The Society for Pentecostal Studies is the largest, most influential organization of its kind in the nation and brings together premier Spirit-filled scholars each year for interaction, fellowship and shared scholarship.
The theme of the SPS meeting is Pentecostalisms, Peacemaking, and Social Justice/Righteousness. Conference sessions will include a wide variety of topics and explore the roles that Pentecostal Christians have in addressing these topics.
Dr. Lois Olena is the executive directorat of SPS. She is the D.Min. project coordinator, editor of Encounter Journal and visiting professor of practical theology and Jewish studies

The SPS was founded in 1970 by three scholars, including the late Dr. William Menzies, who was the chair of the biblical studies department at Evangel. Menzies served as the first president of SPS and the first editor of its journal, Pneuma, which is read broadly around the world.
