Springfield, Mo.—April 15, 2010—On Saturday, May 1, 2010, at 10 a.m., the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary (AGTS) will award Doctor of Ministry, Master of Divinity and Master of Arts degrees to 100 graduates from 31 states (25 graduates from Missouri), 5 countries and 12 different denominations.
The public is invited to attend this 37th annual commencement celebration at Central Assembly of God, Springfield, Mo.
Dr. Steven J. Land, president of Pentecostal Theological Seminary, will deliver the keynote address. An ordained minister in the Church of God (Cleveland), he has experience in the local, state, national and international church. His ministry has centered around civil rights, urban care, discipleship, holiness and Pentecostalism as a theological perspective and worldview. Dr. Land has published four books including Pentecostal Spirituality: A Passion for the Kingdom, which in its fifth printing, is used extensively in Pentecostal and non-Pentecostal colleges, universities and seminaries to orient students to Pentecostal faith and life. He serves as the vice president and president-elect for the Society for Pentecostal Studies and is a member of or participant in national and international societies, councils and theological dialogues.
A public Doctor of Ministry symposium will be held on Friday, April 30, 2010, at 1 p.m. in the AGTS chapel. Nine candidates will present summaries of field-based doctoral projects. Topics include: creating a strategic church growth plan, promoting compassion ministries, preparing for mate selection, the beatitudes as a model for spiritual formation and effective cell leader training.
